French Sappeurs of the line regiments

 Our Hobbyfriend Thomas Mischak asked for some Sappeurs, he could use for his Waterloo diorama.

Frank sculpted him some:-) Very soon available at Hagen-miniatures. 

Sikhs wars

Since I have seen Alfred's diorama on the battle of Alival around 20 years ago, I became very interested in the Sikh wars. After some talking with Sean from Newline design, he started on his range of 1/72 Sikh war figures. I took around 2000 figures for my collection. 

Two weeks ago I've got the last infantrymen painted and now just the horsemen are left. 

My dream is to show a much more increased diorama of a Sikh war battle in the future. 

Everytime I visit Alfred, I take a look at his collection of painted figures - and especially on the Sikh war conversions.

Stopping a French Cuirassier Charge in the Franco-Prussian war

 Hier are the first photos of the latest set from Massimo. Patrick's new project is the battle of Wörth/Fröschweiler and what comes in mind when I think about the battle is the cavalry attack of the French Cuirassier Brigade at the end. 

The here photos of Massimo starting on the idea. I think they are running in a wall of bullets. I hope to see the finished masters soon:-)

BTW, the Prussian firing line is already available:-)

There will be another set of French Cuirassiers in close combat with Prussian Cuirassiers, so that we can show the countercharge at Mars la Tour. This is my diorama project for the 150th aniversary:-)

Our next dioramaproject - The battle of the Medway River

 We hoped to put the diorama on show in Lampertheim and later in November at the Dioramica. Now we see it from the positive side, we can make it much better. So far over 5000 figures are painted and we again have a problem to get not enough space for the diorama.

Rainer sent me photos of his already based figures. 

Not bad for a start. I will base mine closer together and have to paint all the metals left, to have as much different poses, as I can. 

We will show a Roman legion, passing the river. At least I have use for all the Esci Romans with the shield over their head. On the other hand, I fear most will lose their legs or something more:-)

The first legion on the other side of the river has not much space to charge the Britons fortifications, so I fear we can't put some real formations there like this.

Albuera 1811

 Searching in my archive, I found these photos from one of my first dioramas. This was my first diorama plate 1x2 meters, made for me by my father in law. I guess it was 25 years ago.

For me this is nostalgic, seeing what I used for conversions to get the units I wanted to show. 

These days I had units in "Wargame" size:-) 

These HAT crews just arrived some weeks before. 

My Portuguese army - converted HAT British light infantry, Hinton Hunt and Kennington (SHQ).

I can't remember which Spanish unit this should show.

Here we have the Guardias Wallonas

And the second Hussars countercharged by British heavy cavalry. You can see some Quailytcast figures .

The only British in stovepipe, available these days. 

Aztecs vs Spaniards

At our monthly collectorsmeeting yesterday night, as usual we painted figures together.

On Ebay I got a set of painted Revell Aztec warriors, which I thought are ok. But after another check, they needed much repair. The guys asked me why I paint such figures beside my WSS and WW2 Vichy figures.

Years ago I saw a wargame, where the guys showed a very long road for the Spaniards to fight themselves along at the "Noche Triste". Since then, I thought about the same subject. The biggest challenge will be the landscape.

The subject is also covered in many flat figure dioramas like here in the Swiss museum at Morges

And finally the Noche Triste in Flats - from the Museum in Höchstädt. All in all a very colourful subject
