Waterloo diorama by Andreas Hoffmann and friends

I thought it is time for a good diorama on display for the blog and searching my archive I came over the photos I have from 2003. At the Intermodellbau the group around Andreas Hofmann put this great Waterloo diorama on display.

I like the formation of units with NCOs etc. often at the right places. One of the better Waterloo dioramas I have seen in the past, especially in this size! But it is not without faults. The biggest are the 60th who are in a skirmishing screen in front of the British squares and are ridden down by the French. Well - the only officer of the 60th regiment at Waterloo was one in Picton's staff. The rest were in America.... And I have seen some of the 2eme hussars too. But these little faults should not disturbe the huge display.

Enjoy the photos. I start here with the making of. Often the best way to get good close ups:-)

  2. Wow! I love the way they've set it up. What is the terrain ground cover? It looks like rabbit food or some kind of chaff? As you say, a few small mistakes do not detract from the spectacle they've created! Close to 1:1 regiments of cavalry - huzzah!

    Cheers,
    Doc
