The first new Waterloo-diorama on display

While I was in London, visiting the Salute last weekend (and brought with me a heavy cold..) my friend Pierre was in Reims (France)  for an event where he found this Waterloo-diorama. It should be in 1/72, but I don't recognise any figures, so I am not sure about the scale. Sadly we do not know the name of the guy who made it, but this should not be a reason why not showing it on the blog. Maybe someone can help me with more information about the creator?

And yes - more photos from the Salute will come after I worked through them:-)

  1. It looks like the interesting half of the diorama produced by Siborne in the early 19thC. The other half of it is in the Leeds Armouries. The Leeds half, which I have seen, is similar to this but the figures have lost most of their paint. The figures in Leeds are metal true 25mm. If it is his then, it caused some concern to the Duke but was designed from information supplied by eye witnesses. Was this display in the IWM or the National Army Museum? I could be wrong. Many dioramas of Waterloo exist, of course.

    1. Thanks for the information. This diorama was at Display in Reims (France) last week. The creator was a Frenchman. That is what Pierre told me about it.

      cheers

  2. Looks absolutely stunning!

Done in the correct scale too- imagine how big a 28mm diorama would have looked!!
