Samurai Artillery

For our new webshob, Massimo is creating new photos of assembled figures. This week, he sent me the photos for the Set of Samurai artillery.

Wow, now I think I will search out mine too. The Imjin war 1592 to 1600 is still a topic, I have in mind for future dioramas. At least you can distinguish the enemies from each other:-)

There are many interesting movies on the subject, as well as an Osprey campaign and Stephen Turnbulls book "Samurai invasion".

The late Leonardo sculpted many Ming Chinese troops for it too. So it is really a colourful subject. On the other hand, the Japanese besieged many of their own castles too.

The war in Korea 1592-1598 goes on

Thomas sent me a bunch of photos and Andy added the castings of two of them.

So in the never ending story of a Ming army defending Korea against a Japanese invasion, here we have the next three sets.

More Ming Generals (I am wondering when ordinary cavalry comes).

Ming Musketeers (I like them, nice uniform)

And to have some more enemies a set of Japanese train or support troop

The Chinese were sculpted by Leo from Phersu Miniatures. In the Japanese you might recognize Massimo's style.

For those of you interested in the range, take a look here

Japanes and Chinese

As I wrote two posts before our guys in the group usually expand their ranges.

Now I got these new photos from Thomas.

Again Ashigarus made by Massimo and Ming Chinese from Phersu for Thomas' ever growing range of the Samurai-Invasion of Korea 1592.

The Ming Rifle-squad looks nice:-)

Ming Guard infantry

Today Thomas sent me again new photos of his endless range for Ming Chinese and the Korean invasion.

When he started with the subject I thought this would be a short lived one. Well, I was wrong...

This time it is Ming Chinese Guards who fought the Japanese in Korea.

A Ming Chinese project

Since a year I am following Rayloryan's posts about his Ming Chinese army at Benno's forum.
My mate Thomas who is working on his own range of the Ming army gave me the link.

Wow this sculpting is really impressing! I hope he find a caster who helps him produce the figures (and me to buy them:-))

Please check the link to see a lot of photos, both of masters and historical research.

Here a selection of photos from Benno's forum:

The Ming Emperors bodyguard

Thomas with his never ending range of the Samurai invasion of Korea sent photos of the latest master Phersu sculpted for him.

This time we have the bodyguard of the Emperor. Thomas told me they also fought in the campaign against the Japanese invaders.

When Thomas started with the subject I thought to get 10-20 masters and nobody would be interested in the range. Now we have far more than 100 different figures and this made it popular with collectors. Japanese to fight something different than other Japanese.

And as I know Thomas it will go on this way...

Seeing these guys I remember some old Garrison Chinese in my collection which have nearly the same headgear.

The next new set - at the court of the Ming Emperor

Thomas gave me the photos of the next masters of his steady growing range of the Samurai-Invasion of Korea 1592-98.

This time it is the Chinese high chief as mentioned above.
See here the photos of the masters made by Leo from Phersu-miniatures

Two more sets of Imperial guards will follow soon.

For those of you interested in the subject take a look at Thomas' range in our shop.

And if you don't know much about the subject and are interested to let your Japanese fight someone else beside other Japanese I suggest you this great book from Steven Turnbull
