Battle of the Pyramides

 Some weeks ago, I have asked Arndt Wolfram, if he has new photos on his project of the battle in 1798. I like these Napoleonic "colonial" campaigns.

Of course I got some photos and I am glad to show them here. Most of the figures are from the hands of  Frank Ziegler.

19th door - Napoleon in Egypt

Today I worked on my archive on the British infantry. There are some great photos by Funcken, covering the dress of the British line at Alexandria 1801. One of my many ideas is to create the battle in 1/72. At least the groundwork would easy this time...

Both kind of uniforms I have already got from Massimo and they are available here and here.
For less money, there are plastics from Strelets.

Metals for the French are avaiable from Newline Design and Hagen miniatures, as well as old Minigs S-Range from my friend John. In plastic the Strelets range and I remember some British light infantry (the 90th) from GERman.

Too late for the second door - French horse artillery

The last three days I spent with my friend Alfred in Lampertheim. We organized a figure exhebition there. Photos of this will be on one of the next posts..

Here as 2nd to 6th door of my Christmas Calender the next four new sets from Frank Ziegler. Available very soon in our shop. Now you can build every pose of loading and firing a gun. 

Artillery a Cheval in 1800

These were very helpful illustrations to avoid the silly “artillery ballet” often criticized with figure sets. But, to be honest, I made some compromises to create these sets. There are three sets of six which each form a drill for a gun; in addition there are sets of 3 with further drills, with which the sets of 6 can be extended with changing some figures. Within these sets, of course, I also have characters that interact with each other; or poses, frozen in their free movement. There is a gunner with his bag for the cartridges running, or a gunner signaling with his hand, and I plan some wounded gunners too. Of course this does not comply with the strict drill.
Another example is the gunner kneeling down at the coffret, I must confess, he should actually standing at the limber, where the coffret were used to stand on. Unfortunately this information came a little too late. So I have modeled for a correct situation representation a pair of powderhandlers, handing over a cartridge according to regulations.
 

With each set there will be added some tools like spikes, sponge-rammers and buckets too.

Andy thought our range for Napoleon Egyptian campaign needs a commander.

Arndt's first photos for the battle of the Pyramides

After he finished his Waterloo project, Arndt got the idea to take on one of Napoleons first battles.

To be honest, I like this much more than the 1000st time Waterloo.

The French are mostly infantry from the range of Schilling figures and our own light infantry from Franks Marengo range which exactly fit the uniform the light infantry wore in 1798.

And I like to see the artillery from my Revolution range:-)

I am wondering, how the complete diorama will look like when we can see it at the dioramica in 2020!

Some news for the shop

In our old shop we had the page for news. In the new shop, the news should be shown as news on the startside.

The problem is - in a new shop everything is new...

Frank worked on these guys at the Dioramica and today he sent me the result.

I started painting my own armies for the battle of Alexandria. This must be a colorful one.

A new set of French infantry for Egypt

With Frank and Andy working on the Egyptian project I decided to help and pay for a set of masters myself.

For me as a bloodthursty battlefield dioramabuilder it had to be some different poses to all the marching ones already available:-) So I wanted to have a firing line.

Here the photos from Frank which I got this evening. They are soon available in the shop too.

Beside these poses Frank already sculpted some others too. I nice addition to the commant set.
