1813 - my very first diorama

After all the masters, I thought it is time for some diorama photos. I found these photos from my very first 1813 project. I created this plate around 1995.

It is nostalgic for me, to see the beginnings of my collection. Maybe you can share my feelings.

French and some allies fighting the beginning of my Prussian armies.

The next diorama will be a more professional one:-)

After the Prussian Cuirassiers, now Massimo sent the photos of the Ulans.

Let's continue with the Russo-Polish war

at least, when everybody has to stay at home, the sculptors have more time. Now Leonid sent the next photos for his Polish army.

And here some plates. They will be a good reinforcement for my armies:-)

The Russo-Polish war of 1794

Do you know the Panorama painting of this battle?

I have the luck to have a collection of prints which put one on another show the whole diorama. The war of 1794 is very interesting. We have the Russian army in Potemkin uniforms, which are my favourite uniform of this period.

There is also this video on youtube.


The Polish uniforms are another subject. Beside the Osprey there are several books from Jan Czop, covering the Polish uniforms of the 18th century up to 1830.

I very much like his books.

But now comming to the most important subject - figures!

Leonid already made some great figures, some of which we have in our shop. Here a nice photo of his Russian infantry .

And now he sent me photos of his new Polish masters which are available soon.

Maybe next some Polish and Russian light infantry, Polish cavalry and Russian Cossacks? Ok, as usual my wishlist grows with every figure I see:-)

The war of the Spanish succession

I have many friends, for whom this war is the favourite interest. One for example Robert Hall, who made many researches and created this wonderful uniformplates.

Another is my friend John Cunningham from Wales. We know each other since years and had the pleasure to be on some hobbytours.

When John took over the production of Les Higgins figures, his focus got more and more on the WSS. He has a great collection of figures for it.

He was able to infect (wrong word these days) with this subject and I saw many of his figures appear on blogs and wargames.

Now Marvin made a post about the subject on his blog which describes the story behind.

In 2004 John came over to Bavaria and we went to the 300th aniversary of the battle, visited the new museum in Höchstädt Castle and in the end we drove to Donauwörth and climbed the Schellenberg.

While searching for some SYW figures, I found several bags of the Les Higgins figures lying around and with many people showing the subject, I asked John what I should paint with them. His answer was "of course Bavarians". Ok, I took the challenge and tought about the battle. The Schellenberg came into my mind again.

So in two days I finished the first bag with the Bavarian Regiment Maffei, which was involved in the battle. To paint this figures made fun. Much easier to paint then Napoleonics...

To stay with this period (ok, 15 years earlier), I safe this photo here for a special post. Also from John, Irregular riders on 1/72 Morion horses.

Light cavalry on the eastern frontier - Rome 3rd Century AD

In our upcomming range about the wars of the 3rd century, Darek sent photos of the first camel-mounted rider.
