Wachau 1813

Before Wolfgang Mayer and friends started working on the Cröbern diorama (elsewhere on the blog)
they made a small and very fine diorama for the fighting at Wachau, part of the battle of Leipzig 1813.

I was lucky to get my hands on some of their Polish conversions these days. The Prussians are partly from Art-miniaturen. But my favourite on this diorama is the French battery!

I wish we would have the space to store our dioramas. Then we could make such dioramas too insteadt of our system which you have seen on the Pyrhus photos.

Nes from Ingo

as a lot of manufactors produced SYS Prussians in the last month (HAT, Frederikus Rex, Zvezda, Kamar) I thought it is time to work on the enemies. So I asked Ingo to start on Austrians. Here are the masters, Austrian Cuirassiers and half done Grenadiers.

The half naked guys in the backround with the funny hats will be my British infantry for the Mysorean wars.

Bengal irregular cavalry

You know from my former posts, that the Sikh wars are my favourite subject. Last year I showed some photos of a figure Massimo made for me. Now I had the time to paint it. And again - I hate this camera....

 The original

And my humble painting...

Hopefully Newline will do the rank and file.

Papal Swiss Guard in 1/72

I am sure some of you know our active hobby-friend Martin Macalka. For a long time it was Martin's dream to produce his own set of figures. With the help of Caesar he is now able to bring his own first set on the market.

Well it is a very exotic set, but it has its charme:-) And I am sure these guys can be converted into 15th and 16th century soldiers or other guardsmen.

These figures need a much better painter than me, but I try to do my best. Oh how I hate my digicam which shows every fault bigger than my eye....

For those of you who want to get the figures they are on sale now. Martin is still searching for merchants who want to take the set into their shop. If you are a seller or a collector you are invited to order from him directly. His email is martinmacalka@gmx.at .

Please help him and buy the figures if you can so that he can cover the costs of the set. As the big manufactors are stepping back and it is on us enthusiasts to try producing figures I think he should need our help here.
And why not asking Ceasar to sculpt and cast figures we want. We have "just" to take on the costs which - when I understood Martin right - are around 500 $ for each master and mould.

Debbeler 1870 range

As I have seen from the number of visits how much you are interested in the range, I thought it would be interesting to put some of the figures online which Pay Brodersen sold last year when he exchanged his 1/72 collection into a fortune. I have the luck to get a lot of the figures for my own collection. Here see some of the Debbelers he had for sale

But he not only had Debbeler figures for this range, but great conversions too. To my great pain I lost all the auctions for the artillery. But having got Pay's photos (again many thanks Pay) I would be able to convert them myself.  Hey Hank, even for your Prussians advisers at Silistra 1854 interesting!!

The funiest thing was, that I accidently took a bit of 50 Euro (wanted to bit 20)  on these nine Chasseurs Afrique. Conversions from Esci Scotts Greys and Revell Lifeguards. But I lost!!!

Other easy conversions are these Prussian and French cavalry.

More figures from Hank

I always like Hank's ideas for conversions. Here are again his Albanian regulars. I would say they could be used for Egyptians too.

And talking about the Ottoman army, today Timo sent me a mail for a great new movie which comes this year into the Turkish cinemas (hopefully the DVD in German too):-))
