At the second day of the fair I went through the tent and made photos of the figures I liked. There was some very nice stuff in flat figures as well as a contest of the best figure and diorama.
And afterwards I climbed the hill up to the castle to visit the museum there too. Here are the photos now I made from ancient figures.
I liked to see armoured Egyptians.
A Roman Watch Tower in 1:72
This Roman house was made for 30mm flats.
A Roman watch tower made by Andy Brune and available from Hagen-miniatures.
Siege of Troy in flats. I liked the subject and the painting
Late Roman light cavalry. One day another diorama project with the lot of stuff available in 1:72
More Egyptians - Battle of Kadesh
Roman River-Navy
1:72 Germans from Germania - very nice figures and historical more correct than all the naked plastics which are on the market. All these sculptors should experience the German weather in Autumn...
This here was in the contest.
But this was my favourite (ok, before Michel brought his pirate fortress) :-))
It has a story!
Erik Trauner bought his Roman town
And these are just the ancients which I liked. And for sure I have overseen a lot. So next time try to come to Kulmbach too!
We are a group of Enthusiasts from all over the world, mostly Germany, who create historical battles in scale 1:72. As we do this since more than 10 years we thought it is time for our own blog. Being a historical enthusiast I wanted to fulfill my dream of producing my own figures in this scale too. So I started working with several sculptors to produce exotic figures in 1:72 which I fear nobody else would bring on the market.

More of Alfred's SYW conversions
This time it is the allied army on the western front. Again the question, which old Airfix sets are they made from?
Brunswick infantry
Hessians and French
Hanoverians
Hessians
Hanoverians - A great find of him from last years Mainz Modellbautage. I have seen it too, but haven't asked for the price:-((
And here not the western front, but exactly the other side - the Russian army

Spanish Rif-war
With my own production from Fritz-Figures I wanted to fill this gap. The first idea were Anamites for the war in Indochina 1884/85 but I know that I need a bigger range hiere.
The next idea which will be pushed forward hard now are the German Schutztruppe. We made contact here with a specialist on this subject who will help us with all the material we need and in the meantime we already started to produce figures for the Herero- and Namawar of 1904/05. The first five poses of Schutztruppen are available in the shop while the next 10 poses are already casted and needed to be put in the shop.
So far Andy already made the first conversion to increase the range so that at the moment we are at 20 figures. But the range will be expanded with horsemen, artillery, wagons, camelry, Hereros and Namas so in the end I hope for a range of over 100 poses. Hopefully this is not too much for Massimo:-)
But comming back to the main subject. Some other interesting colonial wars are the Spanish campaigns in Morocco. The 1859/60 campaign is the most colourful, but other interesting ones were in 1898, 1907 and 1910 were we still have Spanish troops in old uniforms of red, blue, white etc.
The best known war is that of the 1920ies against Abd El Krim.
Here I found some very nice photos from a wargame with a lot of plastic conversions.
If you want to see the whole story, take a look at this link.
I already posted anywhere on this blog a painting of some Regulares. Be sure this war will be a future subject of my diorama projects too:-))

Back from the figure-fair in Kulmbach
This afternoon I came back from one of my favourite figure fairs. The international tinfigure-fair in Kulmbach which is just every second year.
We had our own stand there and I can say that it was a success. Not the number of sold figures (ok, not too bad), but all the contacts we made, the people we talked to and spread our idea for the shop (from collector for collectors). A lot of people told us that they like the idea and that they want to send their own conversions for casting. Even a friend asked me if I would be interested in his 28mm SYW Austrians. Why not, the shop should be for everything.
But enough of the shop. After a while we started converting and painting figures which made the people stop to see the work and we had again some nice talkings.
See here Andy (yes I know, he just got his coffee and that made him happy:-)))
And me after I spent all my money and had to work to pull the visitors to me in the hope that they buy something to give me more money which I wanted to spend there:-))
We met a lot of friends there like Kai Fuhrmann who had the other stand for 1/72 at the floor
And here Michael Cremerius (left) who had the third stand for 1/72 together with our friend Massimo. I think they laugh because Michael already got the 1870 French infantry which Massimo already put on Benno's forum while Massimo laughs because I decided to buy his complete Charge of the light Brigade from him...
And here some impressions from the fair. I will put more photos sorted after subjects in the future posts.
Buford's stand at Gettysburg in flats
Anhalt Chasseurs a Cheval at Kulm 1813
Austrians in 1809
A Turkish or Central Asien medieval scene
From the Schilling's stand - their own French Old Guard Grenadiers in 1:72
A 54mm Rocket Corps team. A good idea to use the old HAT-set with some more wagons and the horse team as shown.
And this fortress here was for sale
More photos will follow soon!
