The Mexican adventure
This time I can show you some conversions of the Belgian legion in Imperial service in Mexico 1860ies. They fight some Mexicans.
And all this is Massimos latest work. The funny thing is, that I think they will be casted in metal soon and could be available within some weeks. A very interesting subject!
And here some uniform-plates for this unit. Maybe I can ask Massimo for the Austrian legion too?.-))

My two friends Alfred and Roland Umhey have a great job. Working in a museum and making exhibitions. Some job I would very much prefer to mine.

Interesting found on Ebay
Last month I won this auction here on Ebay. A new set of French Foreign legion and Arabs. The figures are 1/72 scale and fit very well with my plastics. The horses are too small for my tast which are the camels too.
Hopefully more figures from this new manufactor will hit the market as there is potential in my eyes.

3rd Mysorean master
Yesterday I got the latest photo from Leo the sculptor. Not exactly the same as the sample, but close to it. I hope with a wider coat it would look better and close to the metal one.

Herzog von Bayern and Massimo
On the 29th April starts the anual exhibition and figure-fair the "Herzog of Bayern" in the Bavarian army museum. See here for the details.
Last year I had the chance to meet Massimo there. Between all this 54 and 90mm figures I found his little treasures.
But the museum itself is worth a visit, one of the biggest military museums in Europe.
Beside the usual uniforms, paintings, guns etc. the museum has some fine flatfigure dioramas as well as a collection of old toy-soldiers.

Zusmarshausen 1648
Last year I was on a business tour in the area of Augsburg when I nearly passed the exit for the village of Zusmarshausen. This reminded me that they have a new flat figure diorama in the Bavarian army museum in Ingolstadt. I left the motorway and searched around a little bit. What I found was a great description of this running battle from Zusmarshausen to Augsburg. A long way to walk (ok, I had my car with me) but a lot of signs where they described the different actions of this running battle.
The French and Swedes tried to cut of the Bavarians and Imperials, but the latter retreated to fast. In the end the Imperials took a position behind a stream near Augsburg and hold this line against the enemy. This was the last battle in the SYW on Bavarian soil. In the diorama at Ingolstadt they show this stand at the end of the battle.
